First Test: India Lose To South Africa By 72 Runs:- Team India pinned many hopes to end up victorious in South Africa and they kick-started the test series with utmost energy. But in a shocking move, India lost to South Africa by 72 runs in the first test match in Cape Town. Chasing 208, Indian batsmen fell flat for the South African pace and got all out for 135 in their second innings. Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli brought enough hopes but they could not stand up for much time which left the Indian batting order tumble down. Vernon Philander’s 6/42 in the second innings made India tumble down soon. Before this Indian pacers Mohammed Shami and Jasprit Bumrah restricted South Africa to 130 in their second innings.

Before this South Africa managed to get 286 in their first innings while Indians struggled for the South African pace and went all out for 209 in their first innings. However the Indian bowlers brought many hopes on the first test but the Indian batsmen could not do justice because of which Team India started off South African tour on a bad note. South Africa now took 1-0 lead in the three test series against India and the second test will commence from January 13th in Johannesburg.
