Magazine cover: MS Dhoni gets non-bailable warrant

India skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni has been issued a non-bailable warrant, by the Anantapur Court, for appearing on a controversial magazine cover, posing as Lord Vishnu in 2013.

As one-day international series, is going to be started from January 12th, currently,  Dhoni is preparing for it vigorously, in Australia. He will play five One Day International's and three T20Is, against the hosts from January 12th to January 31st.

The court hearing, regarding the case, has been postponed, till February 25, 2016.

On September 2015, Dhoni said that, he did not pose for the picture and also did not receive any remuneration, for the usage of his picture on the cover. It was then, the Supreme Court stayed the criminal proceedings against Dhoni.

 

Earlier, the High Court had said, “A celebrity and a cricketer like Dhoni should know the consequences of hurting religious sentiments of people. He should have known the consequences of doing such ads.”

A social activist, Jayakumar Hiremath, filed the complaint, alleging that, Dhoni was seen on the cover of a business magazine as Lord Vishnu, holding several products, including a shoe in his hands.
