New Zealand proved their mettle

In the 2015 world cup today New Zealand defeated Bangladesh by three wickets. A third-wicket partnership of 131 between Martin Guptil and Ross Taylor rescued the New Zealanders. Grant Elliott and Corey Anderson both scored 39 with a flurry of strokes and Tim Southee struck a huge six followed by a four to give his team victory with seven balls to spare. Guptil, who was struck by cramp in his left leg on 99, scored his first World Cup hundred. 

Bangladesh, on a roll after defeating England on Monday, became the first team to bat through their 50 overs. Mahmudullah, scored Bangladesh's first World Cup hundred against England with an unbeaten 128. 

Both teams had already qualified for the quarter finals.
