Lionel Messi retires from international football June 27, 2016 17:56

Ace Argentenian footballer Lionel Messi announced his retirement from international football following Argentina’s loss to Chile in Copa America final. Messi, a five times World Player of the Year, broke down after the loss. Soon after, Messi made the announcement that has shocked millions, leaving them heartbroken."He's like a PlayStation," Arsene Wenger once said of Messi after the Barcelona superstar scored four goals against Arsenal in a 2010 Champions League tie. Football pundit Jonathan Liew, writing for the Telegraph, during a debate over the greatest of all time, said of Messi, "even at half-throttle, he was still the most amazing sight to watch. His legs move like pistons. His shoulders occasionally appear to be moving in different directions at once. He spots passes that don't exist until he's played them. There may have been better players in the past, although personally, I doubt it, but none who has been quite as exhilaratingly pleasurable to watch."The 29-year-old Messi said, "I tried my hardest. It's been four finals, and I was not able to win. I tried everything possible. It hurts me more than anyone, but it is evident that this is not for me. I want more than anyone to win a title with the national team, but unfortunately, it did not happen."When asked once again retirement, Messi said, "I don't think so, I've thought about it. Like I said earlier, I tried everything possible to win. And that's it. It's four finals lost.""I think that Leo spoke in the heat of the moment because a good opportunity passed us by," goalkeeper Sergio Romero said."Lamentably, the most f***ed up is Leo because of the penalty," striker Sergio Aguero said. "It's the worst I've seen him in the dressing room."By Premji

Election Commission to hear AAP MLAs office of profit case on July 14 June 27, 2016 15:39

The Election Commission has scheduled to hear the Aam Aadmi Party MLAs’ Office of Profit case on July 14, sources said. Twenty one MLAs of AAP could be potentially disqualified if the EC find them guilty of flouting rules. The Election Commission had taken 'cognisance' of the President's decision against signing the Delhi government’s bill to exclude the post of Parliamentary Secretary from the ambit of office of profit. On March 13 2015, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal had passed an order appointing his 21 party MLAs as Parliamentary Secretaries. Subsequently, the Delhi government had sought an amendment to the Delhi Members of Legislative Assembly (Removal of Disqualification) Act, 1997.AAP government wanted a 'retrospective' exemption for the parliamentary secretaries from disqualification provisions. The Bill was forwarded by Lt Governor Najeeb Jung to the Centre, which in turn was sent to the President with its comments. The President did not give his assent to the Bill. The 21 AAP legislators include Dwarka MLA Adarsh Shastri, Rajouri Garden MLA Jarnail Singh and Tilak Nagar MLA Jarnail Singh and two women MLAs, Alka Lamba and Sarita Singh. The Election Commission of India, will hear the case against 21 AAP MLAs against whom a petition was filed alleging the legislators have occupied offices of profit in violation of the Constitution. The 21 MLAs and all others concerned parties with the case will be provided a chance to put forward their points. The ECI had earlier issued a show-cause notice to the 21 legislators who were appointed as Parliamentary Secretaries by the Delhi government on March 14 last year.Sensing disqualification of his MLAs for the illegal occupation in the office of profit seats, Delhi Chief Minister Aravind Kejriwal has already started crying victim and blaming Prime Minister Modi. Kejriwal does not have any dignity and shame in doing illegal activities with full knowledge but blames PM for diverting the attention of his failures. By Premji

India became member of Missile Technology Control Regime (MTCR) June 27, 2016 14:42

India has joined the exclusive club of countries controlling exports in missile technology, just a day after its exclusion from the Nuclear Supplies Group or NSG, which governs international nuclear fuel and technology. India's Foreign Secretary S Jaishankar signed the Missile Technology Control Regime (MTCR) aimed at preventing the unchecked proliferation of missiles and their delivery systems. The Foreign Ministry, in a statement issued soon after the signing of the accession document in the presence of the ambassadors of France, the Netherlands and Luxembourg, thanked the other 34 members of the MTCR group for supporting its inclusion.“India has joined the MTCR this morning, India’s entry into the regime as its thirty-fifth member would be mutually beneficial in the furtherance of international non-proliferation objectives,” External Affairs Ministry said in a statement.“India would like to thank each of the thirty-four MTCR Partners for their support for India’s membership. We would also like to thank Ambassador Pieter de Klerk of The Netherlands and Mr Robert Steinmetz of Luxembourg, co-Chairs of the MTCR,” the statement said.Admission to the MTCR will open the way for India to buy high-end missile technology, making more realistic its aspiration to buy surveillance drones such as the US Predator, made by privately held General Atomics. After the civil nuclear deal with the US, India has been trying to get into export control regimes like NSG, MTCR, the Australia Group and the Wassenaar Arrangement that regulates the conventional, nuclear, biological and chemicals weapons and technologies. The aim of the MTCR is to restrict the proliferation of missiles, complete rocket systems, unmanned air vehicles and related technology for those systems capable of carrying a 500 kilogram payload for at least 300 kilometres, as well as systems intended for the delivery of weapons of mass destruction (WMD).By Premji

Telangana Judges threaten resignation June 27, 2016 11:21

Scores of Telangana judges, took to city streets protesting the allotment of Andhra-origin judges to Telangana courts, with a staggering 120 of them even submitting their resignations. They marched from Gun Park to Raj Bhavan and submitted a representation to governor ESL Narasimhan."We held a silent protest rally," a judge said. "Our decision to protest was sudden and hence everybody could not be informed, otherwise all Telangana judges would have joined us," he said."We cannot work under 'Andhra judicial rulers' and hence we have decided to quit en masse," protesting judges said. "We have lost all faith in the current high court administration, the state and the Centre, as none of them responded to our grievances. HC authorities in fact sympathised with our grievance, but did nothing," the judges said in their representation. The representation further stated, "They (HC administration) are now threatening agitating advocates and even the government orally."They made a separate representation to the president of Telangana judges' association, K Ravinder Reddy, urging him to forward their resignations to the governor, if the issue was not resolved within a week.“At the same time, we cannot work under Andhra judicial rulers in future. We being the judges are forced to keep silent against our consciousness. We are unable to raise our voice for the future of Telangana. Therefore, with great pain and heavy heart we have decided to quit judgeship in the interest of Golden Telangana. We are committed to prevent any injustice to our judiciary. If our resignations don’t serve as an eye-opener to the authorities concerned, we are prepared to dedicate our lives by launching a fast unto death,”, they warned.“The allocation was done by the High Court without taking into consideration the guidelines framed by the High Court in February this year. We have been seeking preparation of a fresh list of allocation between the two states as per the native districtdeclared by the judicial officers at the time of entry into service by following the guidelines notified for bifurcation of lower judiciary, and as per Section 77 of the AP Reorganisation Act, 2014,” Telangana Advocates JAC co-convener T Sriranga Rao said.By Premji
