United Telugu American Association (UTAA) was formed in 2008 to Preserve and Promote Telugu Culture amongst the Telugu speaking people living in USA. UTAA is an incorporated non-political, not-for-profit voluntary organization representing and serving the Telugu community in USA.
UTAA started of as a small group with the initiation of the Founding Members and is picking up as a movement with a focus on tomorrow. As we seek to integrate and assimilate into the mainstream American culture we cannot ignore our roots and inherently we all seek to connect to the same roots at different times in our journey. As the children and youth, who form a major force, step into the next generational world with changes engulfing them from all sides, they are already at a vortex of confusion or will be soon experiencing, it is imperative that they do not forget their roots . The Founding Members felt this is a compelling need to start something like UTAA, breaking away from the traditional mould and stepping aside from the political and related ambitions with the main goal of helping the children and youth to organize and cooperate based on the foundations of their roots.
The main goal of UTAA is to focus purely on preserving and propagating the Telugu cultural heritage and seeking to carry forward the maintenance of the same through building a proper identity for people of Telugu origin within USA. The Founding Members strongly feel there is a huge gap in this aspect and with that belief the fundamental premise for the operations of UTAA has been set to be limited to within the USA. However, the connection to the motherland is not forgotten in this quest and it is only appropriate to leverage it in advancing this goal.
UTAA Members are the backbone of the association and it is they who set the course of direction. Executive Committee conducts the day-to-day operations of UTAA under the oversight of Founding Committee. Executive Committee shall direct various committees that are formed under it for advancing the vision and goals of UTAA.
Founding Committee and the Executive Committee sincerely Thank You for stepping into this journey and being part of it. Your participation, support and active interaction will take this zeal forward and put the Telugu culture and Telugu-thanam on a new high.
