Why we need to pamper our body???
When most people think of pampering their bodies, they think of getting manicures and pedicures, having their hair styled by a professional, relaxing in a warm bath, or experiencing a professional massage.
But did you know that there are other ways to pamper your body that are just as important?
Here are five new ways to pamper your body:
Meditation means many things to many religions, but what it boils down to is sitting in a quiet place where you can be alone with your thoughts.
To effectively meditate, follow these simple steps:
o pick a quiet room in the house,
o turn on soft, relaxing background music,
o light a scented candle,
o sit in an upright position with feet crossed Indian style,
o close your eyes,
o take slow deep breaths in then slowly exhale,
o as you begin to feel relaxed, clear your mind of all thoughts,
o once you feel completely relaxed and free of thought, pray to the Lord for guidance as He helps you think on certain areas of your life or certain Biblical verses.
Meditation is also a great way to help control anger outbursts or out of control emotions.
Cuddling is a close, loving, tender, and prolonged embrace between two people who love each other. While a cuddle with a romantic partner is much different than a cuddle with a child or friend, they all have one thing in common: they help you feel loved and connected to the people in your life.
Cuddling has an added health benefit: cuddling “may be beneficial in reducing blood pressure and protecting against future heart disease”.
If cuddling feels awkward to you, start with one of these simple cuddles:
o instead of a quick pat on the back, greet someone you love with a one minute hug,
o snuggle up with your partner as you watch movies together,
o nestle up on the corner of the couch as you read to your child, or
o sneak up behind your teenager and give a hug around the shoulders.
3. Take A Nap
Sleep is a wonderful way to combat negative emotions and physical fatigue. A good night’s sleep clears the mind and allows you to see things in a new light. And a good night’s sleep restores weary bodies and fights infections when you’re sick.
But what if we’re feeling worn out and it’s not even bedtime?
“A short nap of 20-30 minutes can help to improve mood, alertness, and performance” and “a nap can be a pleasant luxury—a mini-vacation. It can provide an easy way to get some relaxation and rejuvenation.”
4. Eat Healthy
Most Americans fuel up on junk food, carbohydrates, and meat, but this combination causes early heart disease, high blood pressure, diabetes, and a number of other health problems.
Fueling up on the right foods; however, can prevent sluggishness, help repair parts of your body that aren’t working properly, and keep the rest of your body working in tip-top condition. In fact, eating more fruits and vegetables can dramatically alter the way your body performs.
A healthy dose of fruits and vegetables fights aging and disease, regulates blood pressure, lowers cholesterol, and reduces the risk of heart disease and strokes.
5. Get Creative
Creativity involves using your mind for something other than handling the mundane tasks of life. Getting creative is about stretching your mind, learning to let go of life’s many stress factors, and experiencing life in a whole new way. It means thinking outside your normal realm of thinking and doing something just because it’s f-u-n.
If your creativity has been stifled by the everyday tasks and stressors of life, try one of these simple creativity busters and rediscover what it means to see things through the eyes of a child:
o start a small garden,
o learn to play an instrument,
o take up knitting or crocheting,
o finger paint with the kids in your neighborhood,
o paint by numbers then advance to painting your own creations,
o take your old photographs and design bright, vibrant scrapbook pages with one-paragraph journal entries,
o start a blog (journal on the web) and express yourself,
o read a long novel and escape to another place and time,
o attend a few home improvement workshops then tear into your house and make it the vision of your dreams, or
o join the local theatre group and play make-believe.
Remember, self-pampering isn’t just about outward appearances. It’s about what you do to yourself to make you feel great on the inside!
