The doctors in Hyderabad have performed a rare surgery successfully and created a record. The medicos at Olive Hospital in Mehidipatnam have saved the life of 68-yeaer-old person by performing surgery for intestinal ischemia.

The surgeon Imraan has said that the blood supply would be stopped to stopped to esophagus in intestinal ischemia. He has said that the team worked for over six hours and repaired the damaged four-feet esophagus. The CEO of the hospital has said that this one in ten lakhs develops intestinal ischemia and said the chances of survival would be very rare for those who suffer from this condition.

What is intestinal ischemia?

Intestinal ischemia is a damage done to a part of intestine due to low blood supply. There are several causes for intestinal ischemia. Some of them include embolus (a blood clot that travels from heart and block one of the arteries that supply blood to intestine), venous thrombosis (blood clots in veins), low blood pressure.

The main symptoms of intestinal ischemia include diarrhea, nausea, vomiting, frequent fever, pain in the abdomen, urgent need to pass stool and abdominal tenderness.
