HC admits petition on liquor syndicate scam
Hyderabad-based freedom fighter Devara filed public interest litigation (PIL) petition today in the high court seeking court supervision over the ACB investigation into the liquor syndicate scams.
Observing that the ACB has been put under tremendous pressure by the politicians in the process of investigation, the freedom fighter sought directions to the ACB to probe the liquor syndicate scams without fear or favour.
Admitting the petition for hearing, the court ordered the ACB bosses to submit to it the progress of investigation in a sealed cover within three weeks. Adjourning further hearing of the case by three weeks, the state apex court issued notices to the ACB and the Government.
The petitioner has alleged that the ACB is under pressure to remove the names of politicians from the list of liquor scamsters. (JUBS)
