ATM catches fire, Rs.8 lakh burnt up

An amount of Rs. 8 lakh was burnt to ashes today when the ATM centre of the SBI at Achhampet in Guntur district caught fire. Police said that the fire broke out in the ATM centre due to a shot circuit and fortunately no customer was inside the ATM centre when the incident took place. Police rushed to the spot and called for fire tenders after people of the neighboring shops observed the fire and informed them.
However, the ATM machine and the currency notes inside the machine were completely gutted into ashes when the fire tenders came over there. Senior SBI officials have also rushed to the spot.
