70 colleges to shut in Telangana

As many as 70 engineering colleges in Telangana state are likely to shut down and these colleges are among the 174 colleges that were denied affiliation by the Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University - Hyderabad before the EAMCET counselling. The 174 colleges approached the High Court over the JNTU-H decision and the court has ordered to inspect the colleges on the facilities they are providing the students.

The government has appointed experts from BITS Pilani Hyderabad campus, IIT Hyderabad, Osmania University and Polytechnic college to inspect 164 colleges out of the 174. Already 10 colleges have been shut on their own and about 60 to 70 colleges willing to shut down too. These colleges even reached the government and asked for the transfer of students who are currently pursuing their engineering in the respective colleges.

Sources also say that few colleges are in no mood to shut down and they are making arrangements for inspection when the experts team pay a visit. Many colleges across the state are denying entry to the experts team while some colleges are getting teachers and staff from other institutes to show up for the inspection process.
