Probably Chinese are the only once in the world who eat each and every animal living in this planet. They do eat domestic animals like dogs and cats too, ironically they celebrate a special festival to eat dogs specially. Yulin in Guangxi Zhuang region in China, have astronomical event with its traditional dog-eating festival, ahead of the actual solstice, this year.

There has been a huge protest over this festival but despite the uproar, the resident of Yulin have started in advance to celebrate this festival.  This year, around 10000 dogs have already been killed and are put on for the people. According to the locals, eating dog meat at the start of the Summer will bring them luck and health.

The meat shops are Yulin are seen with hundreds of dogs lying dead and the shop keepers are ready for the sale. The animal right activists protested on the streets of Yulin to stop this brutal festival and also requested the people not eat dogs as most of them are picked from streets and slums. The Yulin government did respond on the festival however played a diplomatic role and claimed that it did not endorse the festival. The government has ordered the restaurants to remove references of dog meat from their menus but has not banned the sale and consumption of dog meat, which is not illegal in China.

Many petitions were filed and there is a huge outrage in the social media but people are completely ignoring it. The regulations of government are also not bothering them and probably any international organization could intervene in such ferocious event might work.
