A woman was shot dead by the Garo National Liberation Front [GNLF] militants as she resisted rape. This shocking incident took place in Meghalaya's South Garo Hills district in a remote village in the late hours of Tuesday.
The woman's five children and husband were locked inside the house by the attackers and tried to molest her. Later when she resisted for assault, the militants shot on five to six rounds with AK rifle on her head at point blank range .
Women and Child Development Minister Maneka Gandhi expressed shock over the incident and took the issue serious, ordered for a detailed probe.
The Meghalaya police have identified one of the attacker and the search for the culprits is underway.
The country is witnessing horrible crime on women for the past couple years and the new government is yet to take severe actions against these violence attacks.
