Eleven parties form Third Front

Eleven regional parties across the country have formed the Third Front ahead the general elections. Jayalalitha's AIADMK, CPI, CPM, Samajwadi Party and Janata Dal [United] are the most prominent parties in this Third Front and decided to contest under one roof. Speaking to the media CPI leader Prakash Karat said, “the regional parties will play a crucial role in the upcoming elections and all the parties in this meeting have vowed to work against the BJP and Congress.”

Mamata Banerjee's Trinamool Congress party is also expected to be part of this Third Front but she dropped the idea with presence of Left Parties in it. BJD, AGP and JVM parties have skipped this meeting due to reasons best known to them.

Jayalalitha

With the Third Front yet to get fully established, AIADMK general secretary and Tamil Nadu CM Jayalalitha revealed AIADMK's manifesto for the Lok Sabha Polls which clearly shows her Prime Ministerial ambitions. Jaya announced many freebies for all and more importantly many schemes in manifesto are related to the national level.
