As it is customary for the devotees to visit temples on the New Year day though it is not a Hindu festival for it is a holiday and also a belief that blessings from the deity on the first day of the year will last for the entire year whether it is the new year as per the Hindu calendar (Ugadi) or Christian calendar globally followed.
