The petition opposing Aadhar gas subsidy link came in to the High Court in the morning today.
The High Court expressed its dissatisfaction on the gas companies for their attitude insisting on the linking of aadhar card to make the subsidy payment to the consumer. High Court observed that it is the responsibility of the gas companies to ensure payment of the subsidy.
The High Court said that everyone does not have a bank account and all gas connections cannot be illegitimate ones.
High Court ordered that it is the responsibility of the gas companies to pay the subsidy to each and every consumer.
Supreme Court has already ordered that Government schemes should not be compelled to be linked up with Aadhar number. Subsidy on cooking gas is one of the benefits given by the Government to all which should be passed on to the consumers irrespective of whether they have an aadhar number and Bank account or not.
