Golconda diamond to be auctioned in Geneva

One of the most famous diamond in the world  popularly named as "Archduke Joseph" that was mined from the famous Golconda mines of Andhra Pradesh is going to be auctioned in Geneva by Christie's. The rare gem is of 76.2 carat in size with stunning color and clarity.

The famous fashion house hopes to raise as high as 15 million dollars from the auction. According to Jean-Marc Lunel, a senior specialist at jewelery department of Christie's, because of  its magnificent  cut, shape, colour and clarity, "Archduke Joseph" is certainly one of the most important and precious diamonds ever existed in the world. This diamond has been officially recorded as the property of the Archduke Joseph August of Austria and subsequently named after him.

It is to be noted that some of the most iconic diamonds have it's origin traced backed to the Golconda mines which include "Kohinoor" and "Regent",  the crown Jewels of  England and France respectively .
