HC anguish over commercialization of intermediate education

High Court Justice L Narasimha Reddy took on the approach of the state government and the board of intermediate education (BIE) for allegedly closing down aided junior colleges besides acting as front offices of corporate institutions. Mr. Narasimha directed the director of the BIE to see to it that no junior college crosses the limit in terms of admitting the students. Hearing a writ petition by a junior college based out in Warangal,  the Judge was astonished by the way intermediate education was commercialized.

The Judge even pointed out that the private educational institutions resorted to unfair means and selected the examination centres too. He even questioned as to how many government-aided junior colleges were shut only because they had no play grounds. It has to be mentioned that the petitioner approached the High Court after the college in Warangal was asked to close down without even giving a chance for defending itself.  The Judge has also said that no interim orders could be passed at the moment but directed the BIE to hand over a list of educational institutions, which function at unauthorized buildings.
