CPM urges roll back of electricity hike

These days in the state more than the electrical current the electrical bill is shocking, say common public. Many opposition parties had urged the state government to revoke the hike. On Friday the CPM threatened the ruling Congress government to roll back the surcharge hiked or face dire protests. The CPM State Secretary, Raghavulu warned the government that the party would protest the hike in a massive way.

The CPM leader said that in the first quarter (2012-13), the government hiked the surcharge on electricity bills and that burdened the common man by Rs 2165 Cr. This is proving to be too much for the public and hence requested a roll back. He also said that if the government was not willing to oblige then CPM will go on a massive protest.

He also ascertained that the issue would be taken to the public and with their participation, a mammoth protest would be organized all over the state. This protest he said that would be much bigger than the one organized earlier in 2000 against the burdening electricity charges.  (With inputs from internet-AW AarKay)
