Mohammed Pehelwan surrenders before court

Mohammed Bin Omer Yafai alias Mohammed Pehalwan and two others who were accused in stabbing Majlis Ittehadul Muslimeen (MIM) legislator Akbaruddin Owaisi on 30 April, 2011 were surrendered before the Nampally Court on Tuesday as the high court quashed their bail on Wednesday. The Nampally Court has remanded the accused to judicial custody till May 14.

The counsels of the accused have earlier said that they would challenge the high court’s bail cancellation order in the Supreme Court. It has to be mentioned here that the summer vacations for the apex court start from May 14.

It may be recalled that MIM MLA was allegedly attacked by a few members in day light on 30 April last year and the entire episode was captured in a CCTV camera. The Central Crime Station sleuths immediately arrested Mohammed Pehelwan and his family members who allegedly in alleged connection with the case. They were however granted bail later and with high court cancelling bail to three of the accused on Wednesday, the accused have surrendered before the Nampally Court today. (Phani)
