Fuss over exam results, minister rules out giving extra marks

A large number of people including students and their parents staged a protest in front of the office of the Board of Intermediate demanding the board for including extra marks in second year Physics paper. It may be noted that Intermediate second year results were declared today and most of the meritorious students apparently failed in Physics papers. Our sources said that the fail percentage in this paper is over twenty six.

The moment the protest began, the minister for secondary education, Parthasarathy has convened a meeting with the officials for discussing on the Physics paper issue.

The minister later clarified that the questions in the Physics paper were not out of the syllabus. He has ruled out the chances to adding up any additional marks. Parthasarathy has also said that the students need not worry over the failure in Physics paper as they still go ahead and appear for the EAMCET examination. He, however, asked the students to prepare well and appear for the advanced supplementary examinations.

Talking about the agitation, Parthasarathy has said that a few people were allegedly spreading rumours that are apparently giving doubts to students and parents.

It is always unwise to throng the boards and universities to take up protest for marks. It’s unfortunate that even parents are joining such protests. A student should never look for unfair means to obtain marks. (Phani)
