Sankara Rao asked to file additional affidavit in red sandalwood case

The high court today asked former minister Sankara Rao to file an additional affidavit in connection with hearing on the PIL petition filed by him earlier seeking CBI probe into illegal sale of red sandalwood.

Adjourning further hearing on the case by two weeks, the court asked him to provide some more facts in additional affidavit.

It might be recalled that Sankara Rao filed the petition seeking CBI probe into decisions made by CM Kirankumar reddy and others for sale of confiscated red sandalwood worth Rs.500 Cr with out calling for global tenders last year.  He also said that Government has been trying to sell another lot of red sandal wood worth R.1000 Cr now with out calling for global tenders.

“The entire sale is illegal and murky and it should be probed by the CBI to bring out the facts,” he sought in his petition.

The court asked Sankara Rao to file additional affidavit in this connection with some more facts. (J)
