Hike in prices will be controlled: PM

PM expresses that the price hike will come under control gradually. PM also says to control terrorism NCTC is essential.

The Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh responding to the debate on the Motion of Thanks to the President’s address, said price escalations will gradually come under control. Speaking on the fears of escalating prices, the PM assured that all the prices will gradually get back in control and asked the members not to anguish over the issue. Later he added that National Counter Terrorism Centre (NCTC) is much needed to bring terrorism under control. The PM made these statements in the Parliament today.

PM Singh said “dealing with terrorism and dealing with it effectively and Naxal extremism are two big challenges” before the Indian democracy.  The setting up of NCTC is an important step in that direction, he added.

Referring to the concerns expressed by several Chief Ministers stating the NCTC was against the Federal Structure, PM said “it will be our sincere effort to resolve differences with states on the manner of NCTC functioning”. He also assured that consultations in this regards will take place before CM’s meet on April 16.

About the other issues the PM said that regarding the Tamil anguish in Sri Lanka, the centre was working on it. He also said that the Railway Minister had presented an excellent budget and his resignation is unfortunate. Further highlighting his problem he said in a coalition government all allies must be satisfied and to do compromises on several issues becomes compulsory.

The amendments moved by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), the Left Front, BJD on the controversial NCTC issue were defeated in the Lok Sabha on Monday. (With inputs from internet- AarKay)
