Kovvuru gears up for by-elections

The district administration of Nellore has set the necessary infrastructure to conduct the by-polls on Sunday in Kovvuru. The district collector B Sridhar informed media that all necessary arrangements were in place for the polls. The Collector inspected the operations at the election materials dispatch centre in the Government Boys Polytechnic College, in the district capital. Later he met the various officers on election duty and discussed with them at length, about the various arrangements in place.  Later speaking to the waiting media, the Collector explained that all necessary arrangements would foresee the peaceful conducting of polls.

The Collector also informed that sensitive areas were identified and additional forces have been deployed for conducting the polls, effectively. The Guntur District Inspector General, Harish Kumar Gupta, also visited the place and inspected the effective distribution of election material. He also informed that the deployed forces were well instructed on the poll process.

The special officers on duty are now moving towards their centres along with the necessary security and the election materials. Polling would start sharp at 8am in the constituency.

As Kovur is the only seat going to by-poll in Andhra region compared to six seats in Telangana, top leaders of all parties have intensified their efforts. YSR Congress Party has pinned its hopes on the late YSR's image and support from the numerically strong communities of Reddys and Malas besides Muslims. On the other hand, the TDP wants to benefit from a split in these communities besides getting considerable support from Yanadis, Madigas, Pallekarulu, Kammas, Yadavas, Gouds, and other backward communities.
