SC issues notices to 6 ministers, 11 IAS officers in Jagan case

In a major embarrassment to the state government, the Supreme Court today issued notices to six ministers and eleven IAS officers in the illegal properties case involving the YSR Congress president YS Jaganmohan Reddy.

Nellore based advocate Mr P. Sudhakar Reddy filed a SPL (Special Leave Petition) in the apex court seeking investigation against ministers and IAS officers in the illegal properties case being investigated by the CBI.

“It was ministers who issued nearly 26 GOs during the regime of YSR and they must be investigated along with IAS officials in the case,” pleaded Sudhakar Reddy in his petition. The advocate argued that ministers were also responsible for the decisions favoring companies which invested in business outfits owned by Jagan.

His filed the petition in apex court after his pleas were rejected by the special CBI court at Nampally in Hyderabad and by the AP high court later.

A division bench headed by Justice Dalveer Bhandari, after admitting the petition for further hearing, also issued notice to the CBI seeking an explanation on not including the ministers in the investigation.

Ministers Sabitha Indra Reddy, Geeta Reddy, Dharmana Prasada Rao, Kanna Lakshminarayana, Ponnala Lakshmaiah and Mopidevi Venkataramana and IAS officers Manmohan Singh, Srilakshmi, Samuel, SV Prasad, Ratna Prabha, CVSK Sarma, Adiyanath Das, Syambabu and three others were issued the notices in this connection.(J)
