Did CBI actually plan to arrest YSR Congress party president YS Jaganmohan Reddy on Saturday in the illegal assets case when he landed at the Rajiv Gandhi International Airport at Samshabad winding up his Odarpu Yatra in East Godavari district?

It might be mentioned that Jagan canceled his proposed Nellore district visit on Sunday to take up campaign in the Kovur assembly by poll on behalf of his party candidate Nallapureddy Prasanna kumar reddy.

It is now reported that CBI and the Enforcement Directorate teams actually waited at the airport Saturday evening for arresting Jagan when he arrived from Visakhapatnam flight. However, the plan was dropped at the last minute as the teams didn’t get the go ahead from higher ups in the CBI in Delhi.

CBI and EC teams planned the arrest expecting last minute go ahead from Delhi bosses but that didn’t happen and they returned empty handed from the airport.

Knowing this well, Jagan thought he might be arrested on Sunday and postponed the visit to get time to give instructions to his party leaders on the steps to be taken in the event of his arrest by CBI or the ED.

At the instance of the Jagan group leaders, hundreds of (paid?) workers also arrived at the residence of Jagan Sunday morning to create trouble in the city in the event of his arrest. (J)
