Jaya targets Sasikala Empire worth Rs.5K Cr

Jaya followed up her vigil on the inner mafia led by Sasikala by announcing at a specially convened cabinet meeting that ministers would receive instructions from her only and not by anybody else including Sasikala.

She also asked the ministers not to act on messages delivered by anybody on her behalf and the ministers thought that the CM Amma was joking.

On the other hand, Jaya asked her loyalist police officers, lawyers, legal officers and a battery of chartered accountants to investigate and report to her on the investments of Sasikala and her family members.

Jaya asked Sasikala and her family members to leave her house on Dec 17 and on the next day, she expelled all family members of Sasikala from the AIADMK.

Ravanan, known by full name as Ravanan Ratnaswami Pichai, a close relative of Sasikala, was arrested on January 27 in Coimbatore as soon as he landed from Singapore. He was picked up on charges of abduction for ransom, extortion and criminal conspiracy. He was also named as an accused in a cheating case by a Tirupur-based industrialist.

Police and IT teams raided his house and recovered Rs.50 Cr hard cash simultaneously. Ravanan is the CEO of the Coimbatore-based Midas Golden Distilleries which supplies liquor to the Tamil Nadu State Marketing Corporation. Sasikala set up the distillery in 2002 when Jayalalitha was in power. But Ravanan maintained good contacts with DMK regime and continued to get lucrative contracts.

Jaya-ShasikalaRavanan looks after the Sasikala Empire which was valued around Rs. 5000 Cr. It is true Jaya doesn’t have that much money and even Jaya’s house was run by Sasikala only all these years.

Jaya came to know that Sasikala made a neat killing of Rs.300 Cr by selling tickets of the party without her knowledge in the assembly elections. All the candidates were selected by Sasikala and Jaya simply accepted the list. So, most of the ministers and MLAs are loyal to Sasikala and knowing this full well, Jaya had to plan her strategy before kicking the mafia batch out of her house.

Jaya also assessed the Mannargudi mafia must have collected at least Rs.1000 Cr after she became the CM. Most of the amounts must have come from private bus operators who reportedly paid kickbacks to the Sasikala group for hiking the Government bus fares. The liquor price hike has also helped the liquor companies owned by Sasikala.

Jaya has reportedly identified 13 ministers loyal to Sasikala and soon she may drop them from her cabinet. The ministries of industries, electricity, transport, public works, revenue, prohibition and excise, and forests have been reportedly identified for a complete overhaul. (JUBS)
