Anna protest fails to attract crowds

Anti corruption crusader Anna Hazare’s 3-day fast protesting against the introduction of toothless Lok Pal bill in parliament failed to attract crowds on second day.

Anna began his fast in Mumbai on Tuesday along with other members of his team but some of his followers began the fast simultaneously at the 30,000 to 40,000 capacity Ramlila Maidan in Delhi. The first day fast had attracted a crowd of 500 people.

The MMRDA Ground in Mumbai where Anna began the fast on Tuesday also wore a deserted look on the second day today.

On the second day today, police personnel had outnumbered the small crowd of 150 to 200 persons. When questioned about the lukewarm response, the organizers said that winter chill and absence of Anna Hazare forced the supporters to stay indoor.

Anna Hazare’s fast in August and later in Delhi drew thousands of supporters and his supporters across the country organized similar fasting programs successfully.
When some Anna supporters launched the fast in Hyderabad on Tuesday at Indira Park, hardly 50 persons turned up to express their solidarity. (JUBS)
