Student-burglars group arrested in Visakhapatnam

buglarVisakhapatnam police today arrested a five-member team of burglars consisting of students and college and school drop-outs and recovered property worth Rs.55 lakh from them.

The recovered items included gold ornaments, silver articles and electronic items.

The five-member batch has been indulging in robberies and burglaries in Visakhapatnam, Rajahmundry and Gajuvaka areas for several months, according to the police. “One Mr Nagasai, a school drop-out is leading the team which included a third year degree student Mahammad Rafi, B. Tech drop out Mr Pilla Saikumar, third year engineering student Mr Sandeep and BBM student Ketineni Saratchandra,” said Visakhapatnam Police Commissioner Mr Purnachandra Rao.

Police have recovered from them gold ornaments worth Rs.30 lakh, silver articles worth Rs.24 lakh and laptops and TVs worth Rs 1 lakh.

Police said one of the team members has resorted to theft at his uncle’s house where he stays for his study. Purnachandra Rao has announced rewards to the 8-member team which has arrested them.
