T strike intensifies as more segments join

TELANGANAEven as the mass general strike (all people’s strike) of the Telangana employees reached the ninth day today, the T employees of the electricity department also joined the strike and said they would boycott all types of duties except for the emergency ones.

While the government is unmoved by the strike, there are indications that more and more people are going to join the mass general strike.

For the third consecutive day today, public transport in Hyderabad as well as across the entire Telangana was badly affected due to the strike by the RTC employees.

While the leaders of the JAC of the Telangana RTC employees unions announced that it would continue the strike till Telangana if formed, the RTC management has terminated the services of the contract employees working in the organization.

1355 contract staff removed from service

The RTC management issued orders removing from service a total of 1355 contract staff members working in various depots across Telangana. Out of these 675 are the drivers and the rest are conductors.

Provoked by the termination orders, the JAC leaders said that its striking employees would not join duty till the contract employees are taken back into service again.

Meanwhile, the RTC management is hiring new employees across Telangana to scuttle the strike and run the bus services.
