The Supreme Court asked the TTD to file its reply in one week citing the reasons as to why the project cannot be taken up.

It may be noted that the brainchild behind the project, Adi Kesavulu Naidu, the ex-TTD Board Chairman, got the works commissioned by the the then Chief Minister, Y S Rajasekhar Reddy. Subsequently, the TTD has received overwhelming response to its pet scheme, getting as many as 95 kilos of gold and Rs.12 crore towards the same. However, in the wake of the Andhra Pradesh High Court's orders, the TTD has shelved the project. Since the project was a non-starter, the TTD expressed its willingness to refund the donations to donors. Alternatively, the TTD even prepared to divert the same to other schemes being run by itself.

As part of the project, it was proposed to gold plate the walls of Anand Nilayam located inside Srivari temple at a cost of Rs.40 crore.
