London Olympics 2012, Indian perspective
Sportive spirit engulfing Great Britain in the London Olympics 2012, has set standards of hospitality for visiting teams. Numerous examples of well disciplined hospitality speaks about the legacy of the great county that has hosted the summer games. Great Britain truly a great country, loving and caring. On the medals front on Tuesday morning China leads the table with 64 medals of which 31 are gold. US contended with number two position with 63 medals of which 29 are gold. United Kingdom makes a steady progress and remains at the third position with 40 of which 18 are gold. Well lets have a quick look at what our athletes have got in the bargain.
In Boxing, pugilist Vijender Singh lost his quarterfinal bout against Abbos Atoev of Uzbekistan 13-17. However Women's Flyweight (51kg) MC Mary Kom won the bout with Maroua Rahali (Tunisia) with 15-6 in a one-sided quarter-final at the ExCel Arena.
"It feels great to win an Olympic medal for the country. But I want to carry on the momentum or a bigger medal," says Mary Kom who has already worth the bronze in the event is looking for Gold and she is confident to secure her target too.
In Shooting, Gagan Narang and Sanjeev Rajput have bowed out of the men's 50m three positions event. And in the Men's Trap, Manavjit Singh Sandhu also fails.
In Athletics, Men's Discus Throw: Vikas Gowda qualified for the final by hurling the metallic disc to a distance of 65.20 metres in his second attempt to make the cut.
