Indian Olympic contingent to London

Indian contingent of 142 members are ready to fly to London for the 2012 Olympics scheduled this month. The Sports Ministry has given a green signal for the entire contingent. The list was initially submitted by the Indian Olympic Association after due consultations from the concerned sports wings. The contingent will stake its chances in the various games at the 30th Olympics starting on the 27th of this month and ends August 12th. While approving, the Ministry has communicated in its sanction order that IOA and NSFs would have included the support staff such as Coaches, Doctors, Managers and officials keeping in mind the best of national interests and the sports.
The entire contingent comprises of 81 athletes, 36 coaches, four managers, eight medical staff, six “P” category officials and seven contingent officials. India will participate in 13 sports disciplines. (With inputs from internet- AW AarKay)
