Australian pacer Bret Lee calls it a da

Very devastating Australian pace bowler Bret Lee has called it a day to International cricket today on Friday the thirteenth, precisely 13 years of excellence with the leather in hands. The Oz player has formally announced his retirement from all forms of international cricket. About his retirement, “It's official, I have retired from international cricket. Thanks for all your love and support. It's been an amazing 13 years," Lee said via Twitter ahead of an official news conference.

Bret Lee, who is known for his fierce attack, today announced his retirement, saying his body and mind were no longer up to the stresses of touring. "I woke up this morning and knew I had to call it quits today. Friday the 13th, 13 years, I thought it was pretty appropriate," he told Channel Nine.

"I thought I would go over there and try and play the Twenty20 World Cup (in Sri Lanka in September), but (being) mentally and physically challenged, it would just not be worth it.  "So I'm walking away happy with the call I've made," added the Oz player.

The 35-year-old bowler, who was embroiled in a controversy of obstructing Sachin Tendulkar, during an Indo-Oz encounter, firmly rejected the controversy. Infact he was one of the first player to wish the master blaster when he successfully completed his much awaited hundredth hundred. "Congratulations to Sachin on achieving his 100th hundred," tweeted the bowler. Lee has in his kitty 310 wickets from test cricket, 380 wickets from ODI and 28 wickets from T20. In short, he was the most consistent international pace bowler, of the day. (With inputs from internet- AW AarKay)
