It's time for planet Earth to strike a pose. The Cassini Spacecraft is currently flying near Saturn and has clicked a picture of Earth on Friday from 900 million miles away.

Nearly 300 visitor assembled at the Griffith Observatory in Los Angeles to wave for the picture. The observatory will receive the picture 80 hours after it was taken, as it takes that long for light to travel from Saturn to Earth.

This picture from the 'far side of saturn' will show Earth like a small dot, going by previous photos. Scientists hope that the photo will be better this time showing the planet as what it is. Cassini took multiple images of Earth and stitched them together to create a single large mosaic picture.

When the picture was taken, North America and part of the Atlantic Ocean was facing Cassini. The spacecraft will send a series of images of Saturn's rings for comparisons and observations for changes. A picture of Earth will be a part of these.
