TN opposes GST Bill

Tamil Nadu government is reportedly not happy with NDA government for introducing the Constitution Amendment Bill on Goods and Service Tax [GST]. Chief Minister O Panneerselvam has written to Prime Minister Narendra Modi in this regards and expressed his concerns.  He said, the actual tax rates and tax bands through the GST Council is not acceptable to the state of Tamil Nadu.

Panneerselvam also demanded to keep the Petroleum and its products outside the purview of GST as it would bring huge revenue losses to the states. He added that states should be given 100 percent compensation for the next five years if GST comes effective.
