Kaun Banega "Crorepati" to rebuild his home with prize money
Manoj Kumar Raina had ben trying since the first season of Kaun Banega Crorepati back in 2000 to get on the show and he believes it was his destiny that he got a chance to be on the show. However, unlike most players, Raina says, that he didn't think of the prize money while coming to the show and that his sole intention was to see Amitabh Bachchan, whom he fondly calls Amitji, of whom he is an ardent fan. Having won Rs. one crore the humble star of Kaun Banega Crorepati 6, he said he would utilize the money in rebuilding his house in native Kashmir.
"I am very happy to have won this huge amount but it was never my aim or dream when I participated in KBC," Raina said. Raina is incidentally the first person to make it to the hot-seat hailing from Jammu and Kashmir in the history of the show.
The contestant had exuberated confidence right from the Fastest Finger round in the show after he had made the selection in flat five seconds approximately.
Talking about his desire to be on the show since the beginning he mentioned, "Through all these years, I kept myself updated with everything happening in India and around the world. I truly believe knowledge can help you reach the top".
Raina works as an assistant in the Indian Railways. A die-hard fan of the Bollywood Megastar, he says, "when he is happy I am smiling, when he is sad, I cry. He is a legend. My only intention was to meet Amitji and I felt that was possible only through KBC".
Raina lives in Jammu with his parents, wife and a 10-year-old son, who accompanied him to the sets of KBC.
His house was destroyed in an attack by the militants and they were forced to move to Jammu. With Rs one crore, I would like to build a house there". The philanthropic part of him wanted to help under-privileged people in the area who were not receiving any help of any kind. “I would do help in whatever little way I can," he said.
