After garnering the TRP ratings that had hit the roofs and also gaining great responses from the public nationwide apart from the publicity on the social networking sites, the first TV show hosted, directed and produced by Aamir Khan has been a great outrage in the society. This talk show had begun with the issue of female foeticides and had discussed and dissected the various social evils that prevail and torture the common man. Satyamev Jayate, had made it a point to educate and captivate every person emotionally illuminating him on the burning issues in the nation. This 13-week show that aired every Sunday had concluded the first season.

Starting on the 6th May this year it went on for 13 episodes talking about female foeticides, love marriage rebuttal turning violent, medical malpractice, dowry, child sex abuse and several other such unforgivable crimes.

It also had off screen coverage while talking to officials to ensure that the problems are solved.
The Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Bill, 2011, that was earlier cleared by Rajya Sabha, was passed by Lok Sabha after the second episode of "Satyamev Jayte".

The issue of medical malpractice has awakened the parliament and it had called the team of the show to discuss the issue.

The grand finale of the first season of the show had concluded with the discussion of the constitutional right of equality. All are equal before the constitution, but not in reality. The ironical status of the country where people are subject to numerous ways of discrimination basing on caste and religion was the focus of this episode.

The Sunday afternoon appointments were canceled as they interfered with the show's air time. There were numerous emotions that were elicited by the show while most people had watched the show with moist eyes.

This was also the first show to be aired simultaneously on several channels including star plus, star world, and the government's channel Doordarshan.

Aamir Khan had said that he might come up with the second season soon.
