Steve Waugh counters Shane Warne February 12, 2016 14:53

Hitting back at Shane Warne, upon his comments, Steve Waugh said, he was just doing his job as a captain, when he dropped the leg-spinner for a Test in the West Indies, 17 years ago.It is known that, a few days back, Warne criticized Waugh saying, he is the most selfish cricketer. He himself said that, the grudge was related to Waugh’s decision of dropping Warne from playing XI for the final Test, on a tour of the West Indies, 17 years ago.Responding to it, Waugh issued a short statement through the social media, which read, “I’m not justifying his comments with an answer.”Today he finally reopened up on the issue, explaining that, the decision to drop Warne was tough, but part of his job as the captain. “To be fair, not only Shane, any player I had to tell was dropped wasn’t easy,” Waugh said. “It wasn’t easy telling Adam Dale he was dropped for a Test match or Greg Blewett. There were a number of players I had to tell they weren’t playing. As a captain, that is the hardest thing to do. But it’s also why you’re the captain, because people expect you to make the tough decisions for the benefit of the team. You have got to do that at times and you have got to be prepared not to be liked by everyone,” Waugh added. Earlier in the week, Warne said that he was disappointed after Waugh dropped him, treating me as a scapegoat. Responding to this, Waugh said, “I guess, the main thing as a captain and leader, as long as people respect your decision, that is all you can ask.”“You have got to take a bit of a risk sometimes. It’s not always the obvious thing to do. Sometimes it can be gut feel, it can be based on facts…at the end of the day, you are a leader because people expect you to make a choice,” Waugh added.Previously, Waugh has admitted that his decision to dump Warne, cost him his friendship with the spin king. But in his book “The Meaning Of Luck”, he said that, it helped shape and define him as a captain.By Phani Ch

KCR’s strategies using Errabelli? February 12, 2016 11:44

Right after the formation of the Telangana state and TRS government in the state, Telangana Chief Minister KCR vigorously tried to attract Thummala Nageshwara Rao from Khammam and Errabelli Dayakar Rao from Warangal. Though he did not take much time to attract Thummala, it was Errabelli, who played hide and seek with KCR, several times and finally, Errabelli himself came forward and joined in TRS party now. How will Errabelli be useful for KCR, to jolt oppositions In his 30 years of political life, Errabelli got elected as an MLA for six times. That itself says his efficiency. A leader like this in TDP, would any day become a threat to TRS. Now there is no such threat as Errabelli is into the TRS party. With the entry of the senior leader into TRS, there would be no stop to the party in Warangal. Other leaders like Kadiyam Srihari, Konda Surekha belonging to the same district, makes TRS unstoppable, without any competition.   As Errabelli is one of the key leaders, other TDP activists are expected to form a queue in front of TRS office in the coming days and this further degrades TDP position,  completely erasing out its opportunities in the state.   Errabelli hunt began! As expected Errabelli already started jolting TDP from this morning, writing letter to the  speaker, seeking to consider their group as TDP, as two third MLAs are on their side. Along with Errabelli, other leaders like Talasani, Sayanna, Krishna Rao, Vivek Goud, Prakash Goud, Manchi Reddy etc signed the letter, sent to speaker, and the latter’s decision is awaiting yet. BCCI revenue to dip from Rs 2000 crore to Rs 400 crore February 11, 2016 13:43

If Lodha Panel's recommendations on curtailing the advertisement breaks during the matches is implemented as planned, BCCI is expected to suffer a financial loss worth Rs. 1600 crore. Due to this loss, along with the functioning of BCCI, even the development of junior cricket in India gets affected majorly. The current operative revenue as per BCCI balance sheet is approximately Rs 2000 crore, where the broadcasting rights and advertisement revenues forms the major portion. But the Lodha Panel recommendation proposed to allow advertisements, only during"lunch, tea or drinks break", which would show a very great impact, as the  revenues are expected to come down to Rs. 400 crore.  As per the sources, currently, the Star Sports, possessing the broadcasting rights of BCCI's matches, is offering Rs 43 crores per match. But after the Panel recommendation’s implementation, it is expected to be less than Rs. 10 crores. “Yes, it is true that we are facing a situation which could lead to a revenue loss of Rs 1600 crore. Star Sports will renegotiate their deal and may be pay us only 20-25 percent of the amount that we get currently per match. Ditto for IPL broadcasters,” sources said.Initiatives like these, further implies that, during outside tours, the host countries like England, New Zealand or Australia will earn more than India, out of the broadcast deals. Along with the above effects, another major impact would be on BCCI's age-group structure, which is one of the most robust in world cricket, if Lodha’s recommendation gets implemented. Approximately BCCI spends Rs. 750 crores on the subsidies to state associations, about Rs. 400-450 crores on match fees and allowances of players, right from U-16.  Not stopping there, BCCI spends around Rs 350 crores on its matches, starting from U-16, U-19, U-22 to Ranji Trophy across the country. The former first-class cricketers and international cricketers get monthly pension for which another Rs 25 crore is spent by the board.By Phani Ch
