BCCI demands damages from WICB January 24, 2015 18:17

The Board of Control for Cricket in India [BCCI] has issued a ultimatum to West Indies Cricket Board [WICB] demanding the damages it caused by the West Indies team which abandoned the Indian tour indefinitely last year. BCCI has sought USD 41.97 Million from the Caribbean cricket board and also threatened to take legal action, if the payment was not made in a given time. BCCI secretary Sanjay Patel written to WICB president Dave Cameron and the inter-governmental Caribbean community (CARICOM) secretary-general Irwin LaRocque expressing the regret of BCCI as WICB failed to respond their first letter and gave a grace period of 40 days. Patel asked WICB to reply to the letter within 15 days from the receipt of that letter. The Indian cricket body has cancelled all the bilateral series between Indian and West Indies. There are also doubts about WI players participation in the cash rich Indian Premier League.- TVR

Day nap can boost memory January 24, 2015 18:05

A study revealed that day napping in middle aged people will result in boosting their memory and protects it declined but given a regular night time sleep too. The study was carried out Baylor's University researchers and one of them added, “As people grow older, they wake up more at night and have less deep sleep and dream sleep - both of which are important for overall brain functioning.”For this study, the research team did an extensive review of approximately 200 studies measuring sleep and mental functioning. The researchers divided the participants aged 18 to 29 were categorised as young; aged 30 to 60 as middle-aged; and older than 60 as old. They were asked how many hours they sleep, how long it took them to go to sleep, how often they woke up in the middle of the night and how sleepy they feel during day time.This study also had a connection with the results from numerous brain-wave studies and experiments dealing with sleep deprivation, napping and sleep intervention such as sleep medications.- TVR

MTV Roadies X2 to go on air January 24, 2015 18:00

Popular reality show 'Roadies' of channel MTV will go on air from today. The reality show is in its 12th season which is called 'Roadies X2,' will have three new hosts replaced by the most popular Raghuram and Rajiv. Boxer Vijender Singh, Karan Kundra and Bollywood actress Esha Deol are the new faces of the 'Roadies X2' and they will accompany the regular host Rannvijay. This is for the first Roadies is having a female judge and all the four judges will be contesting against each other with respective participants. The show will begin on Saturday at 7 PM and will last 17 episodes. As usual the audition of participants will be shown first and then the real game starts with vareity of tasks. 12 Kgs Gold stolen from Bank January 24, 2015 17:44

In a major robbery, 12 kilograms of Gold was stolen from Bank of Baroda in Gundarapalli, Krishnagiri branch. The police have launched an investigation right away and according to their preliminary probe, there was a complete lock down of the bank. The burglar entered the bank through the house attached next to bank. Ironically, the house also belongs to bank but was abandoned for quite some time now. Meanwhile the depositors reached the bank in large number and are agitating. The police have held discussions with the bank authorities and roped the rescue squads to collect any evidence if found at the spot. The bank is located 20 kms from Krishnagiri which is border of Andhra Pradesh state.- TVR

Obama won't be seeing Agra January 24, 2015 14:29

According to the media reports, the United States President Barack Obama who will be visiting India, has reportedly cancelled his Agra schedule, cut short his trip and instead he will be flying to Saudi Arabia to condole the death of Kinga Abdullah. Mr. Obama will be visiting India on the invitation of Prime Minister Narendra Modi as  chief guest for the Republic Day celebrations. The Agra Commissioner was informed regarding the Obama's Taj Mahal visit and heavy security measures were taken. But now with the trip getting a cut, Obama will be confined to the national capital and will hold high profile meetings. Massive security arrangements are being made for Obama's India tour. About 4000 security personnel are being roped and US Secret service agent has deploayed about 100 special officers.

Sri Lankan beauty Jacqueline Fernandez gave credits to her 'Kick' co-star Salman Khan for improving her languages skills. At a launch of a beauty product in Mumbai, Jacqueline went praising the 'Being Human' hero. “Actually my Hindi improved so much after working with Salman. He used to push me a lot in all the interviews that we did during the promotions. He wouldn’t allow me to speak in English,” said Jacqueline. Further she added, “He is very inspiring…I felt like I was re-launched in the industry again. He had been such a great support, so encouraging…It was definitely a new beginning for me and I owe him a lot for that.” The 29 year old actress will be next seen in 'Roy' opposite to Bollywood heartthrob Ranbir Kapoor and Arjun Rampal. Uber to resume operations in Delhi January 24, 2015 13:08

The US based online Cab service, Uber will resume its operations in the National capital shorty after it was banned with rape incident by Uber driver. The cab service provider also sent a mail to the rape victim about its comeback and this has surprised her.  According to the sources, Uber has applied for fresh licence under the modified rules of the 2006 Radio Taxi Scheme and a day after applying the licence, Uber sent mails to its customers. However, one of the transport department official said, “applying licence means it is yet to get a permission, till then no cab of Uber will be seen on the road.” The Special Commission of Police for Traffic said, till an official confirmation arrives from the respective department, Uber services will be considered illegal and will also be not allowed to operate. The 25 year old rape victim was upset and surprised by this. Very recently, she hired a New York based lawyer and is expected to file a legal suit against Uber in a US court. Interestingly, Uber did not apply licence on its own name but through an Indian subsidiary named Resource Experts India Private Limited. The company has even offered 25 per cent discount to its regular customers. - TVR
