The biggest hit of Ravi Teja's career, 'Kick,' will be soon arriving with the second part of it and on the even of Ravi Teja's birthday, the makers have unveiled the teaser of the film. In the teaser, the 'Power' hero was seen sitting at a railway stop anticipating for someday and then walks with a weapon in one of his hand. Lastly, the teaser greets Ravi Teja with birthday wishes. 'Kick 2' is the second combination of Ravi Teja with Surender Reddy. Rakul Preet Singh is the heroine. The shooting has reached the final stages with the fresh schedule which resumed in Hampi. Microsoft Profit falls January 27, 2015 15:26

Technology titan, Microsoft reported a profit of $5.86 billion for the latest quarter ending December 31, compared with $6.56 billion in the year-ago quarter. But Microsoft announced a revenue of USD 26.5 billion for the same quarter with increase of cloud and device sales. Overall the company saw a 13 percent decrease in revenue for Windows and it has high expectations on the recently launched Windows 10. The sales of devices is encouraging. The sales of Surface tablet and accessories saw a rise of 24% to $1.1 billion in the quarter while Microsoft's Bing search market grew to 20%. Thanks to the strong holiday season, the Xbox video game consoles sales climbed to 6.6 million units but all these weren't enough to keep the shares of Microsoft from declining. In after-hour trading, shares of Microsoft fell by nearly 3 per cent to $45.63 . Microsoft struggled with sluggish personal computer sales demand and also with strong US dollar.- TVR

Chewing gum improves oral health January 27, 2015 15:16

A recent study has suggested that chewing gums helps to improve oral health by removing around 100 million bacteria from mouth in just 10 minutes. Netherland's University of Groningen researchers found out that chewing gum traps the bacteria within the mouth and when gum is spitted out, bacteria along with the gums goes out. As part of the study, five biomedical engineering students were asked to chew two types of chewing gums for different period of time i.e, from 30 seconds to 10 minutes. After the given time, they were asked to spit the gum in sterile water for analysis. The gum had about 100 million bacteria and researchers were shocked to see this. Also they analysed that the more time we chew the gum, the more bacteria gets trapped to the gum. The study was published in the journal PLOS ONE.- TVR

The US President Barack Obama's presence at the Republic Day celebrations is the talk of the town but one man tried his level best to steal the show from Obama. Well, he his none other than Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi. On the historic day, PM Modi exposed his fashion skills by wearing a suit that had gold-embroidered letters spelling out his full name, 'Narendra Damodardas Modi.' Designer Raakesh Agarwal specially designed this suit for Modi and he said, the name was not embroidered but hand-woven and it requires a special technique called Jacquard  which costs around Rs 80,000 upto Rs 5 Lakhs depending upon the fabric. The suit was stitched by Jade Blue, a Ahmedabad based garment store. This brand is also authorized of another label called 'Modi Kurta' which was named after Modi, who generally wears the casual half sleeved kutra.  At the dinner hosted by Indian President Pranab Mukherjee, Obama expressed his wish of wanting to wear a 'Modi Kurta' and we hope, PM Modi fulfills his wish. - TVR

Nadal knocked out January 27, 2015 13:32

Third seed Rafael Nadal has been knocked out of the Australian Open. Czech Republic's Tomas Berdych stunned Nadal in straight sets with 6-2, 6-0, 7-6 [7-5] scores. This is also Berdych's first victory against Nadal since 2006 and he ended the 17 match losing streak against the Spaniard. Berdych will meet either Andy Murray or Nick Krygios in the semi-finals for a place in the Sunday's final. Earlier in the game, Tomas Berdych broke Nadal's serve five times in the first and second set. Shockingly, Nadal did not win a single point in the second set while he made strong comeback in the third set which led to a tie breaker. However, Berdych held his nerve till the last minute and finally won the third set too. Berdych credited his success to new coach Dani Vallverdu, who earlier worked with Andy Murray.- TVR

Padma Awards 2015 winners! January 27, 2015 13:21

The NDA government has announced 104 personalities, to be honoured with Padma awards. Classified into three categories, nine eminent personalities got Padma Vibhushan award, 20 of them got Padma Bhushan and 75  personalities received Padma Shri award. Veteran politician LK Advani, actors Amitabh Bachchan, Dilip Kumar and few others were among list of the second highest civilian award, Padma Vibhushan. Ambrish Mithal, Sudha Ranganathan, Satpal and few others were among the list of Padma Bhusan award while Microsoft founder Bill Gates and Ms Melinda Gates were also honoured with the third highest civilian award for their immense contribution in social work. The Gates duo were named under the foreigners category. Coming to the Padma Shri award list, Bollywood director Sanjay Leela Bhansali, writer Prasoon Joshi, Telugu actor Kota Srinivas Rao, sports personalities Mithali Raj, PV Sindhu, Sardara Singh, Arunima Sinha and few are among them.- TVR

Kota surprised by Padma Shri January 27, 2015 12:24

Veteran Tollywood actor Kota Srinivas Rao said he is surprised on getting Padma Shri award that was announced the Central government on Sunday and added that he is honoured to get the fourth highest civilian award. Kota, who was shooting for Allu Arjun and Trivikram's new film, was felicitated by the team and he then thanked all the producers, directors and actors who were part of his successful journey in Telugu film industry. Kota made his debut in 1978 with 'Pranam Kareedu' however, Jandhyala's 'Aha Naa Pellanta' was a big turn around for his career. He starred in more than 500 films and also featured in Hindi and Tamil movies. Kota was more famous for his negative roles till 90s, especially in director Ram Gopal Varma films and now he is doing supportive roles. Kota has won six Nandi awards to his credits.- TVR

Miss Universe 2015 title goes to Colombia January 27, 2015 12:02

After 57 years, Colombia bagged the Miss Universe 2015 title in the form of Paulina Vega. The 22-year old student of business administration from Barranquilla, Colombia was crowned the Miss Universe title on Sunday in Miami and became the second beauty queen from Colombia after Luz Marina Zuluaga who won it 1958. Miss Universe Paulina Vega was born in London and belongs a big family, four sisters and three brothers. She is the granddaughter of legendary tenor Gaston Vega and 1953 Miss Atlantico, Elvira Castillo. Vega is five feet nine inches tall and wore a long silver sequined gown in the final round of the pageant. Speaking after crowned as Miss Universe, Vega thanked all her supporters and well-wishers. For India, it is yet another disappointment. India’s Noyonita Lodh failed to make it to the top 10 contestants. The last time an Indian crowned Miss Universe title was Bollywood actress Lara Dutta in the year 2000. It has been a while that an Indian women was crowned with a Miss Universe or Miss World title.- TVR
