AP CM's Controversial Statement Causes Heckles To Rise At Nandyal June 23, 2017 09:46

AP CM's Controversial Statement Causes Heckles To Rise At Nandyal:- The Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Mr. N Chandrababu Naidu's controversial statement to some group of people who met him at Nandyal with some problems, is causing heckles to rise. Mr Naidu said, "If you do not like my administration, do not take pensions assigned out by my government nor walk on the roads laid by my government." The AP CM apparently told his party leaders,"Despite getting so many benefits from us, ask them why they are dissatisfied. I will not hesitate to ignore such villages, who do not vote for us." He further told his party leaders to seek votes only on the basis of development. Mr. Naidu made a shocking statement that he too could offer Rs 5,000 for a vote, but was not his policy. "Unlike the Opposition parties who traded in votes, I am committed to uphold honesty in politics," said the AP CM. He even questioned the villagers by asking, "Why do you still crave for the money distributed by corrupt political leaders and vote for their parties? How can a 500 or 1,000 rupee note given by them change your fortune?" Naidu earlier held a review meeting at Nandyal and had asked his officers to prepare a plan for the town to transform it to a smart city. He also pointed out about the faction politics in Rayalaseema. The CM stated that new generation of leaders had been brought by him "as the young generation are more positive than those of our generation." Due to political compulsions, he said he had invited leaders from the Opposition, but due to this, he had faced problems within the Telugu Desam party. SUPRAJA

Ex Lok Sabha Speaker Meira Kumar Fielded Against Kovind For Presidential Candidate June 22, 2017 18:32

Ex Lok Sabha Speaker Meira Kumar Fielded Against Kovind For Presidential Candidate:- After having much hype over the Presidential candidate, the Opposition Parties have declared the name of former Lok Sabha Speaker Meira Kumar as their Presidential candidate against NDA’s Ram Nath Kovind. The decision was taken at the Opposition parties meeting headed by Congress President Sonia Gandhi in New Delhi. Other prospective candidates in the fray were Dr B R Ambedkar’s grand son Prakash Ambedkar, ex-diplomat Gopal Krishna Gandhi and ex-home minister Sushil Kumar. While the Left party leaders have leaned towards nominating  Ambedkar or Gandhi, Meira Kumar’s visit to the Congress Chief Sonia Gandhi’s residence, has fueled the debate that Sonia was willing to support her candidature. Notably, Kumar is also a Dalit, a factor that had won support for Kovind. The background of the Dalit leader has made him a candidate, whom the political parties cannot afford to reject, even more so with his added credentials of being a reformer for the Scheduled castes and OBCs. The name of Meira Kumar was “proposed unanimously” by the Opposition parties said Senior Congress Leader Gulam Nabi Azad. “ Miera Kumar, the daughter of freedom fighter Jagjivan Ram, is an experienced leader and has served in various capacities.” Meanwhile, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee had said that there were better and more known Dalit leaders than Ram Nath Kovind. The Opposition parties were shaken by the decision of Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar after he decided to back the National Democratic Alliance’s candidate on Wednesday. SUPRAJA

“Navatha” Chukka Reddy Passed Away At 72 June 22, 2017 18:08

“Navatha” Chukka Reddy Passed Away At 72:- ‘Janadharma’ Acharya, ‘Jeeva Gadda’ Vijay Kumar, ‘Kekalu’ Ramdass, and ‘Mantalu’ Prabhakar - these titles are not their surnames but names of the magazines or newspapers published by them. And the publications were so popular in Telangana that they became the first names of the publishers. Also belonging to this category was ‘Navatha’ Chukka Reddy, who passed away at a hospital in Hyderabad today at the age of 72. Janadharma, Jeeva Gadda, Kekalu, Mantalu and Navatha inspired a generation and have left a great impression on the people of Telangana. These people have, at one time or another, for whatever the duration, published magazines or newspapers with a fearless and independent attitude. From Warangal, MS Acharya used to publish ‘Janadharma’ and later also founded the daily ‘Warangal Vaani’. Its office in JPN Road, Warangal, was a state of affairs of political thinking and was considered as a journalism school. Many of today’s eminent journalists have reputed from this school. Noted professor and present member of Central Information Commission Mr Madabhushi Sridhar is his son. Facing may difficulties, Mr Ramdass ran “Kekalu” from Nizamabad. He later started another publication called ‘Poddu’. From Karimnagar, ‘Jeeva Gadda’, a daily published by Vijay Kumar, was much talked about and many journalists started their careers with this organization. Chairman of Telangana Press Academy Allam Narayana and  Chairman of Telangana State Public Service Commission Ghanta Chakrapani, had began their journalistic careers with ‘Jeeva Gadda’. Its office located at Ganesh Nagar of Karimnagar was the most happening place with politicians and journalists gathering there. Various Left organizations and their members were regulars there. And ‘Mantalu’ Prabhakar, published from the small town Jagitial and true to its name, boldly highlighted several social issues over the years. Komatireddy Chukka Reddy was born in Chegyam village of Velgatur mandal of old Karimnagar district. Although born into a well-to-do agricultural family, from a young age, he  was drawn towards literature from a young age. His writings were published in a well known magazine of the yesteryears, “Yuva”. People have always referred to him with his new surname ‘Navatha’, the publication he started in 1978. ‘Navatha’ came out till 1990, and was known for its people-oriented stories and fighting for people’s rights. Many stories published in the so-called mainstream newspapers had their roots in the investigative stories published in ‘Jeeva Gadda’ and ‘Navatha’. Apart from his editorial duties, Chukka Reddy was always involved in several people’s movements. From the well-known Karimnagar leader Juvvadi Chokka Rao to ward-level leaders, politicians of all hues consulted him for his opinion. Mr Chokka Rao was always in touch with Chukka Reddy and another personality who went by the name ‘Union Bank’ Srinivas. Without any bias, Chukka Reddy used to analyze politics. Maybe this was the reason why the ‘clean’ politician Chokka Rao valued his opinion. Chukka Reddy was always the first person at R&B Guest House, whenever Chokka Rao visited Karimnagar. Chukka Reddy was well read, and must have read almost all the known books in Telugu and English. For the Telangana people’s movement and the society, his demise is a great loss. SUPRAJA
