The Hyderabad High Court declared that, it would pronounce the orders in the cases filed by the engineering colleges today. In the past the managements of the various private engineering colleges have filed a petition against the decision of JNTUH, in rejecting grant of affiliation to them and thus reducing the number of admissions sanctioned by All-India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) for the academic year 2015-16.On the other side, Telangana advocate general, K Ramakrishna Reddy said that, the colleges have failed to fulfill the norms prescribed by the AICTE and that is the reason for it to reject granting the affiliation to the concerned engineering colleges. When the inspections were conducted by the authorities, it was found that the concerned colleges did not maintain the student, faculty ration as per the guidelines issued by the AICTE. Along with these, there are no proper facilities in the laboratories. In the previous years, though these colleges are suggested to improve the facilities, they failed to do so, AG reminded.  “The university is very concerned about providing the quality education to the students,” he added.  On the other side, the managements who filed the petitions complained that the university has failed to look into the facts in the correct perspective. Though steps have been taken to create required facilities, as the counseling is declared to start from July 8, we are forced to postpone the repairing worksHowever, the reaction of the court on the issue is yet to be heard, which is going to be out today evening.By Phani

Multiple courses of antibiotics makes babies fat July 06, 2015 19:00

Do you know that antibiotics use have significant impact on child development? It was revealed by a study performed by the researchers from NYU School of Medicine. For the study, the mice were given three short courses of amoxicillin (a broad-spectrum antibiotic), tylosin or a mixture of both drugs. Researchers stated that “Number of courses of antibiotics matters. We get a little interruption of the maturation process after the second course of antibiotics, and then we have even more interruption after three courses." The study also suggested antibiotic-exposed micro biomes may be less adaptable to environmental changes. When the researchers moved the young mice to a high fat diet on day 41, for example, the micro biomes of the control mice all shifted within a single day to adapt to the new conditions. The study supports previous research by Prof Blaser's group suggesting antibiotic exposure during a critical window of early development disrupts the bacterial landscape of the gut and permanently reprogrammes the body's metabolism, setting up a predisposition for obesity. The study appeared online in Nature Communications.By Lizitha
