Engg graduate from Hyd who joined ISIS dies in Syria May 05, 2015 18:22

An engineering graduate from Hyderabad, who joined the terror group ISIS, has died "while fighting in Syria," Intelligence sources on Tuesday said quoting his family members.Mohd Haneef Waseem, 27, had reportedly joined the ISIS in Syria in February this year, they said. The Telangana Police are in the process of gathering more information about Haneef's alleged links with Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS). They are also trying to find out how he could have gone to Syria."We are collecting more information and the process in this regard is on," a top Intelligence officer said."He (Haneef) completed engineering degree from Hyderabad around four years back. He later went to London where he completed his masters course. In February this year, he left for Syria from London. He seems to have joined the Islamic State in Syria where he died," the officer told PTI."How he died we do not know...while fighting or in landmine blast or accidental death, we are not sure, but he died in March and the same was informed to his family members around 10 days back, who stay in Rajendra Nagar here," the officer said, adding that Haneef's family members in turn informed the matter to police. The family, native of Mancherial town at Adilabad district in Telangana and settled in Hyderabad for past few years, was informed about Haneef's death through an SMS in Arabic language, which they got translated, he said.Asked about reports that Haneef had taken another youth of Karimnagar district along with him to Syria, the Intelligence officer said, "He was all alone."It appears that he might have joined the IS after getting attracted to it through social media, he said.To a question about the youth's body, he said, "It seems they (IS) themselves might have buried it."Last year, Hyderabad Police had foiled "attempts" by six youths from the city, including two engineers and a former Google employee, who were allegedly plotting to join the ISIS ranks after getting attracted to the terror group's propaganda on social networking sites.Besides, a 19-year-old woman from the city who was residing in Qatar and had flown to Turkey, allegedly wanted to join the ISIS but had come back to India in December last year after seeing the conditions there, police had earlier said. - Manohar

GST bill, BJP - Congress reaches consensus May 05, 2015 18:04

In major relief for the NDA government, Congress has assured that it will support the Goods and Services Tax bill, which means it will clear the parliament with the two-thirds majority which is needed for a constitutional amendment. Finance Minister Arun Jaitley said in Parliament, "I beseech you, clear GST," while appealing to the opposition parties not to stall the legislation that will give effect to a unified tax regime in the country. He appealed that all parties have to come together in national interest and suggested that the GST Bill should not be sent to a parliamentary committee for review anymore. The Finance Minister stressed that any more delay in passing the bill, which changes the constitution, would mean setting back GST by another year as the deadline of April 2016 for a roll-out cannot be met.Senior Congress leader Veerappa Moily said his party will support the GST bill because it was the idea of his government, which was led by the Congress. "This bill has gone through the standing committee for two and a half years; it has been before dozens and dozens of empowered committees. Only then has a consensus happened. I beseech you rise above party considerations," Mr Jaitley said in the House, also pointing out that “If all our CMs agree why are we delaying it? And that means your states will suffer." The Budget Session for the Lok Sabha ends in three days. The Rajya Sabha will close on May 18.  A vote on the bill is expected tomorrow in Lok Sabha after a discussion. The clearing of GST bill will be a great step forward by the NDA government. This will lead to benefit the states in a large scale. The floor management of the NDA was successful in romping in more supporters to get the bill passed. GST bill brings in revolutionary benefita to the state as well as for the consumers. This will help to have a uniform tax regime throughout the country.By Premji

Image talk : Balayya's Lion May 05, 2015 17:40

After Legend 400 days function, Balayya and his fans are looking forward for Lion's release, most of them are expecting a thundering success again. The film is getting released for this Summer and the movie team now released a new image from the film which shows Balayya in a most stylish appeal. In the image, Balayya is seen with a beard and in a military hair style. After a long time, he is seen in this stylish avatar. He holds a weapon in his hand and watching the ground. Though it is not specified, it can be clearly understood that there might be a villain on that ground and it is an action scene. Coming to the beard, it is a trend in Tollywood to put it for hero if the concerned film has a powerful flash back, so that the director wishes to show the variance in hero for the flash back and in the present. Movies like Narasimha Naidu, Samara Simha Reddy are the biggest hits in Balayya's career for the powerful flash back in it and in that sense, even Lion has to be a hit if the guess behind the beard is right. Am I  right ?      by Phani

No question of taking back on the issue of salary hikes, RTC employees confirmed once again. It is known that, the fitment issue is currently the burning matter in the RTC department. At Bus Bhavan, the fight is still going on. The discussions which were  held between the government and the RTC employees on Tuesday were failed. The government asked the employees to wait for few days for the proper decision, as it is going to be the huge burden for government if announced the fitment now. No problem, we have alternatives- Shiddha  Transport minister Shiddha Raghava Rao pleaded the employees to drop the strike. But after few failure attempts, minister said that there would not be any kind of disturbance to normal lives of public as the government had already made the required arrangements. But he could  not specify those and that gave the employees much more boosting to continue the strike. AP cabinet sub committee has invited the RTC employees to participate in the discussion, but none were turned to it, the minister reminded. However the proposal of increasing the bus fares is already taken to CM, he further added. Please try to understand - RTC MDOn the other side, RTC MD,Samba Siva Rao said that there should be sufficient funds to announce the fitments, but as of now there are no such funds. He reminded that RTC employees were promised to give 27% fitment in the past. But for giving it, an extra burden of 880 crores will fall on the department and moreover, there was a loss of 500 crores last year to RTC, so the idea was taken back. It is sad to know that none of the RTC employees are taking back the idea of strike even after forming a sub committee. If this continues, the department has to think about the alternatives, MD warned.  By Phani

RSS to help and guide BJP in West Bengal May 05, 2015 16:29

In West Bengal, BJP is looking towards RSS to bolster its presence in eastern region, where the party’s ideological mentor is ramping up its presence in Assam and West Bengal. The Bharatiya Janata Party leadership in West Bengal is scheduled to sit with the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh and its affiliates in a special coordination meeting on May 6th. The BJP will initiate a 'Sampark Abhiyan’ and hold a core committee meeting before Prime Minister Narendra Modi's visit to the state on May 9th. BJP joint general secretary (organisation) Shiv Prakash and national secretary Sidharth Nath Singh, who is in-charge of party affairs in West Bengal, are scheduled to visit Kolkata to initiate fresh program for rejuvenating the party.Senior leadership of the RSS and several affiliated organisations such as the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad, Bharatiya Mazdoor Sangh and Bharatiya Kisan Sangh are set to participate in the planned programs. BJP will unveil a roadmap for the West Bengal assembly polls in 2016 and seek the support of the RSS and its affiliates. It wants to remove the gaps in communication and ensure better coordination with Sangh organisations. The Sangh has a wide network in West Bengal, even in remote areas, with many of its affiliates working in the educational, social and cultural sectors. RSS and its various affiliates have been working quietly at the grassroots, especially after the regime change in Bengal in 2011. Its network and reach is wider than BJP`s. This network, if utilized in a well-coordinated manner, could benefit BJP.“What is important is that the central leadership is trying to gain momentum in Bengal once again. This is done through various initiatives. The coordination meeting between the Sangh and its affiliates is of utmost importance. This is a special meeting where the central leadership is present, and in this political situation it assumes a different dimension,” BJP leader said.BJP along with RSS can do magic in West Bengal. The present position of the left parties are much lower when compared with the organizational setup of BJP and RSS. Many of the left party workers have joined BJP knowing that the future of West Bengal is now in the hands of BJP.By Premji
