Japanese on a quest for earthquake source

There was one bright mission into prominence. The mission was initiated by the Japan-led team of seismologists who set off during Friday to drill deep beneath the seabed in quest for the origin of earthquakes. The scientists estimated the weight of an anchor on Japan's deep-sea drilling vessel Chikyu, furthering for a spot in the ocean off the Kii peninsula, south-western Japan, and a fracture in the Earth's crust known as the Nankai Trough.

Experts have cautioned the trough which made visible impression on the place where the Philippine Sea plate slides under the Eurasian plate happens to be the possible source of a monster earthquake sometime in the coming future. During preceding year Japan's government known to have revealed  a worst-case scenario accompanied by a cautionary big quake in the area could kill over 320,000 people, dwarfing the March 11, 2011, quake-tsunami misfortune.
