Modi ok in Gujarat but what about the West?

Narendra Modi has been triumphant in the nation with a whopping victory in his constituency and Gujarat as a whole. In fact several sections of the people think that the vitory is more Modi’s than the party’s. But, even with the victory, Modi is like a student in India who just finished his graduation. How you ask? He has a no visa for western countries like US, UK or the European countries.

What would be interesting to see in the next few days is how Modi would be cast forward by the party as their prime candidate for the 2014 general elections, as a PM candidate. Another development that might not need such long waits would be the issue of bans on his visa in the West.

Since the Gujarat riots in 2002, the US, UK and the other western countries have placed a ban on Modi for their visa preventing his entry into the nations. Though other nations can visit Gujarat for any interest, Modi was completely unwelcome in the west. But with his triumphant hattrick the countries may have enough reason to rethink their strategies.

After being banned in the West, he was looking to the oriental growing ties with Japan. Modi has been on good terms with China too. Israel joined hands with MOdi for africultural research and hi-tech training institute for the farm sector in Gujarat.

Though UK recently had laxed a bit on the issue of Modi after the high commissioner visited Gujarat in 2012, the US still remains stringent on its stance while preventing anyone "who has committed particularly severe violations of religious freedom” to enter their nation.
