Nitin Gadkari issues legal notice to Digvijaya Singh

Nitin Gadkari on Friday had sent a legal notice to Digvijaya Singh, the Congress's General Secretary saying he made scandalous and defamatory statements against him.

In a recent talk with the media, Singh mentioned that Gadkari along with his business partner Ajay Sancheti had earned a profit of Rs 490 crore from the coal mine allocation scam in Chhattisgarh.

According to the reports from media, Gadkari in his notice claimed that his statement was "defamatory, scandalous, false and reckless”. He also alleged that since they were widely publicized and ready by people all over the nation it has lowered the dignity of his client. “The statements have lowered the dignity of my client in the eyes of the public”, he said.

He refused to take back the legal notice if Singh doesn't apologize and take his sentence back within three days after he received the legal notice. He said otherwise Singh would have to face legal actions.

Indifferent to the notice, Singh said he has not got the notice and normally does not respond to legal notices.

"If Gadkari files a case in the court, then I will respond in the court," he said.
