Six Metro stations to remain closed on Sunday

All services at a few metro stations, six to be precise, would be halted from 8 am to 6 pm in the evening on Sunday on the account of a rally from Arvind Kejriwal, who was a member of the Team Anna which no longer operates.

Patel Chowk, Central Secretariat, Udyog Bhawan, Jor Bagh, Race Course and Khan Market would all be shut down for the 10 hour window on Sunday.

The Gurgaon-Jahangirpuri line will be most affected due to the closure of the stations while interruptions to the Secretariat-Badarpur line would also be seen.

The closure is to be observed as a precautionary measure for the rally by Arvind Kejriwal hwo plans to gherao the houses of Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and Nitin Gadkari the leader of BJP to protest over the coal block allocation issues.

Interchange passenger from Line 2 to Line 6 can still visit Central Secretariat station. Delhi Metro Spokesperson said that this measure was taken after intimation from the Delhi Police.
It can be observed that all the stations that were closed were ones closer to the residences of the mentioned leaders.

Arvind Kejrival on Thursday had alleged that Congress and BJP worked hand-in-glove on the coal block allocation issue and announced the gherao of the PM and BJP chief. "Congress and BJP have got together to loot Rs 1.86 lakh crore in coal scam. (There will be) gherao of Prime Minister's and Nitin Gadkari's residences. Let us assemble at Jantar Mantar on August 26 (at) 10 am," Kejriwal said on his Twitter account.
