Bailable charges against molester, mother seeks justice

The negligence of the police department has made the news yet again after a mother of two had to visit the police station several time to get the molester of two of her kids arrested. Every single time she visited the station she was sent back saying that the criminal was absconding. This was however far from reality as the mother could see the perpetrator every day in the same pool van that he operated.

The Gariahat Police acted only after the mother had goaded them to follow her to the school and pointed out the accused.  Finally the police have arrested the alleged molester, Samit Sarkar but of what use is it to arrest such a ruthless criminal who had sexually abused two kids of Class II and III if he is booked on bailable charges?
All the efforts of the mother would have no impact except for the custody for a few hours. Samit Sarkar had allegedly molested the kids of the mother, a boy and a girl, in Class II, III. For such an offence the police had to charge him with Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act (PCSOA), 2012, which was introduced recently. This act also requires a fast-track court to deal the case much faster than the normal cases. The police had brushed the blame of their shoulders saying they had no knowledge of the new Act.

According to the mother, the boy and the girl were molested by the driver of the pool car, Sarkar on August 2. They had not spoken properly since then but had later broken out while talking to her grandmother a few days later.

Police booked him for wrongful restraint, voluntarily causing hurt, molestation and use of criminal force to outrage a woman's modesty. The mother was unaware of the charges being bailable while the police had refused to comment until further investigation.
