India to induct M4 rifles from US for special forces

The M4 assault rifles are being inducted into the Indian Army for the special forces for use in operations against the terrorists. These rifles were used to kill Osama Bin Laden by the US Navy SEALS in Abottabad.

Not long ago, India signed a multi-crore deal with the US to get a hold of these carbine rifle for 8 special battalions of the Indian Army. These were extensively used by the US special forces across several countries like Iraq and Afghanistan.

In Operation Geronimo, last May, Osama Bin Laden was shot down with a M4 carbine assault rifle in Abottabad by the US Navy SEALS.

The present Israeli Tavor 21 would still be used along with the Uzi and mini-Uzi rifles but the new addition would be a supplement to the present force. The special battalions were using AK-47s in the operations to take on terrorists before the induction of Tavor 21s.
