Girl raped and set on fire

Offences against women continue to hit headlines. Yet another rape-by our own countryman who pledged the oath All Indians are my brothers and sisters…-appeared in news, unfortunately.

In a shocking incident, a girl was allegedly raped and then set on fire in Barabanki town of Uttar Pradesh on Wednesday evening. The incident took place when the 16-year-old girl was alone in her house. The accused allegedly raped her in her house, splashed kerosene on her and had set her on fire.

The locals were alerted after hearing the loud cries of the girl. They have immediately rushed the victim to the hospital. The doctors have then informed the police who booked the case and are in search of the accused who is on run. Meanwhile, the doctors have said that the chances of recovery are very grim since 50 per cent of her body was burned by the fire.

People who rape should not be hanged to death, but should be stripped on road and then shot dead or else such incidents continue to happen. (Phani)
